The D300S options the identical 12.9 megapixel (12.3 million effective pixels) APS-C sensor and Nikon's latest generation EXPEED processor found within the D90. Nikon D300s can capture progressive format video at 24fps during a selection of 3 resolutions: 320x216, 640x424 and a high definition 1280x720 mode. Video is stored in the Motion JPEG AVI format which may not be as efficient as H.264, however is much easier to edit. The D300S features a 3.0 inch, 920,000 dot monitor a dead ringer for the one used on the D300 and D90. The monitor offers 100 % frame coverage and is adjustable via the interior menu for seven levels of brightness.
The D300S is filled with the same fifty one-point AF system with color and distance tracking plus optional viewfinder gridlines from the initial D300.
